Topic: My one-of-a-kind grandfather

Main Body:
    Main idea: 
My grandfather is special because he showed to me how perseverance, patience and 
                       love can make a difference in one's life.
        
        (1)Topic sentence 1: My grandpa had been through a really though time during his
                                           teenage years.

             Supporting examples:
               1) He was a hard-working student in his hometown, in order to have a better studying
                   opportunty, he moved to Jinan and live with his grandpa.
               2) His grandpa passed away but he had no money to burry him. He almost had to "sell
                   himself" to be a slave. Luckily, he had gotten enough money at last.
               3) Few years later, the Chinese Civil War broke down, and he was fored to become a
                   rufugee.
               4) During this trip, many bad things happened (I didn't put them in the right order because
                    I have to comfirm the time again ):
                    (1) He was sent into the jail because the Taiwanese government thought he was a spy
                          that Communist Party of China sent to show how poor you would be if you still
                          want to stay with the Koumintang.
                    (2) After he had worked for a while, he finally saved enough money to buy a new pair
                         of shoes, but after he washed them and put them under the sun to dry it, someone
                         stole them right away. He had no choice but wear the pair of old shoes which a
                         kind woman gave him.
                    (3) His girlfriend who kept all of his money ran away with another guy. Luckily his
                          teacher shared his room with my grandpa so that my grandpa wouldn't have to
                          live on the street.    
            
     
        (2)Topic sentence 2: No one compares to my grandpa when it comes to perseverance.
             Supporting sentences/ examples:
               1) His studying: He had loved studying since he was young. He continued studying even
                   when he was a refugee. He made to the NTU by himself.
               2) Among all of the subjects, his favorite was math. But because his major in university
                   was history, he then have to learn it by himself. After he graduated from university,
                   instead of being a history teacher, he became a math teacher instead. Few years later,
                   he  began to teach in Jianzhong.

        (2)Topic sentence 3: A serious disease can take away one's life easily.
             Supporting sentences/ examples:
               1) My grandpa had once fall down from a wall and caused him stayed in the ICU for a few
                   days, but he recovered magically.
               2) 19 years later, he fainted in front of me, and we couldn't understand why. He was so
                   healthy before his first faint. Few weeks later, we finally found out the reason that
                   caused him faint-- the epilepsy. And the doctor said that the reason to his epilepsy maybe
                   was because of the scar in his brain that he left there 19 years ago.
               3) A year later, his health condition worsened, and another disease also came to him-- the
                   senile dementia. This disease made him forgot many things, but the only thing he
                   wouldn't forget was to ask us whether we are cold, do we have enough money to
                   spend or have we eaten yet. Sometimes he was also stubborn and refused to take the
                   medicine. At last, he refused to eat.
               4) During the last six months, he almost went to the hospital every month, he could hardly
                   walk due to the lack of exercise. At the last time he stayed there, he was sent to the ICU
                   because of his bad health condition. He made through few times of dangerous situation,
                   but at last, he didn't make it. He passed away in the morning of 5/17, just a day before
                   our school anniversary. I didn't make it to see his last minute, when we rushed to the
                   ICU, he had passed away a minute ago.

Topic: My Grandpa

Main idea: What he had done to make me feel that he is special from others.

Introduction: On 17/05/2013, my grandpa passed away. He had always been my hero, and he was always there supporting me. I had nothing to fear when I was with him. In order to commemorate him as a part of my life, I decided to learn all the things about him and the special experiences he had been through.

Main Body:
    1. Main idea 1
        
        (1)Topic sentence: My grandpa was a refugee of the Chinese Civil war and after he got to 
             Taiwan, he made to the NTU all by himself.

        (2)Supporting sentences/ examples: He was brought to Taiwan with his school during the     
            Chinese Civil War. As a refugee, he had little food to eat, little money to spend, and almost
            had no time to study. But his favorite thing was to learn new things, he learnt math, English,
            Japanese......etc all by himself. At the year of 1950, he entered the NTU as a politics student,
            but the next year, he changed his major from politics to history. He graduated in 1954 and
            now his graduation thesis is displayed in the NTU's library.


    2. Main idea 2
        
        (1)Topic sentence: He took history in the university but later on, he became a math teacher.

        (2)Supporting sentences/ examples: He first went to Wanshan high school(文山中學), and
             that was also the first or the second year of that high school. Later on, he was invited to be
             a math teacher in Jianguo senior high(night school), after the night school was cancelled, he
             became a formal math teacher there. He had also taught in some private school to earn more
             money because the teachers those days weren't paid well. After he retired from Jianguo high
             school, he became the math tutor of my sister and me.

Topic: My Grandpa, My Hero

Main idea: My grandfather's life (education, experiences) and what happened to us after his death.

Outline:
  1) His teenage life (a refugee) and those who helped him survived.
       1. His teacher(Mr.史) and the principal(Mr.劉)
       2. The route (from Shandong to Taiwan)
       3. The mystery of his escape(no one knew how he did that)
  2) Education: Studied by himself and entered NTU. + His graduation thesis
       1. NTU (also worked there)  politics(only 1st grade) then history(teacher史 recommanded him
           not to take politics)

This week I want to post my memorial speech for my grandpa and what I have done these weeks.

The memorial speech:
親愛的爺爺

    還記得在我小時候您總是帶著我到處亂逛,任我予取予求每次都會面帶微笑地答應我的一切要求。在家裡時,您更是讓我調皮搗蛋,甚至還讓我把您的頭髮綁起來,從沒有一句責罵的話語。

    在夏天時,您也會為我們製作許多好吃的零食,從愛玉到涼粉,每一樣都灌注了您滿滿的愛心。您也喜歡將您最愛的酒用筷子沾給我們喝,看到我們皺在一起的臉,您總是笑得無比燦爛。

    到了我上國中的時候,您總是極有耐心地幫我複習數學,雖然我常常犯一些粗心的錯誤,但您每次都只念了我幾句,又從頭在我我講解一遍。不管我考了幾分,您都是利用鼓勵代替責罵,殷殷切切的話語,就是我邁向新的學習的最佳動力。

    每年的過年、我們生日、以及我們考試之後,您都會給我們紅包來鼓勵我們。每個紅包袋上都有您用心的題字,字字句句,都在希望我們能更加努力,更上一層樓,現在的那些紅包,成了我最珍貴的寶物。

    在您生病以後,這些事情都成了絕響,您的身體逐漸地被病魔侵蝕,狀況時好時壞,老人失智症更是造成您將許多的事情遺忘,忘了吃,也忘了如何喝,但您卻清楚的記得幾件事,每次您見到我們,總是不忘我們幾個問題:「冷不冷?」、「吃了沒?」、「錢夠不夠用?」,一次又一次的,仔細叮囑我們,甚至到了四月底,也就是快要進加護病房前,您雖身體虛弱,意識也模模糊糊的,但是在看到我的袖子是捲起來的時候,把我叫到身邊,奮力地將我的袖子拉下來,只因為怕我感冒。

    爺爺,雖然你的身體在五月十七號的七點零一分的時候離開了我們,但您曾經為我們做的一切,你曾對我們說過的每一句話,將會永遠的留在我們心中。對我們來說,你的精神將會活在我們的心中!爺爺,我愛您!

Things I have done:
1. Found out and scanned some old photos.
2. Found out his thesis.
3. Tried to send e-mails but failed because of the wrong address.
4. Read as many books as possible.
5. Asked my mother something about her chlidhood.
6. Visited his teacher.
7. Found out some pictures of CK
8. Found out the old red envelopes he gave me.

I knew much more about his life than before because he seldom told me the tough days he had been through. He only wanted to give all the good things he had and wanted to keep the bad things a secret. I really miss him while I was doing the researches.
